Our training helps teachers develop a greater understanding of how the brain, nervous system, and body, together with yoga, breath work, and movement can support the growing needs of children and youth. We believe yoga is for all abilities. As teachers, we need to learn how to make yoga accessible and thereby empower our children and youth to access their full potential. This training will provide you with practical tools to practice yoga with children and teach them how to self-care, self-manage and self-regulate. Yoga for Special Needs will provide you with the methodology and foundation for teaching young children, teens and adults with special needs and abilities. Yoga can serve as an effective therapy and service to support the health and well-being of individuals throughout every stage in life.  This training offers a multitude of therapeutic approaches to making yoga accessible, adaptable, and applicable for those requiring an individualized, private program or small group setting.  Yoga for body, breath, and mind incorporates the multidimensions of the whole being by empowering individuals, parents, and caretakers with tools for self-regulation, self-care, and self-esteem while promoting strength, coordination, and concentration.  Everyone is capable of learning.  Be empowered in knowing how you can make a difference in the lives of individuals with special needs.

In this training, you will learn yoga tools to empower teens to build stress resilience.  Understanding the stress response is an important piece of understanding the effects of the nervous system.   Stress is a contributor to diseases such as cardiovascular, autoimmune, digestive, inflammatory, endocrine, and psychological disorders.  It is vital we become stress resilient and learn to have a healthy relationship with the stressors in our lives.  The polyvagal theory provides us with a deep understanding of the complexity of the nervous system in its response to stress and the capacity to restore us to a place of balance, and homeostasis for optimal health, and growth.   Yoga provides us with a lens through which to understand the nervous system and how we can work to support it.  Yoga can help us to become resilient in our body and mind’s reaction and response to stress.  Through the practice of yoga, philosophy, breath work, connection, safety, empathy, and self-regulation, we can build stress resilience.
